Xitong works with comprehensive material on paper. At the moment, She attaches importance to “harmony”, or more precisely “duet”. In addition to consider how to make multiple materials sound at the same time and how they interplay. Xitong is also trying to express the complex diversity of reality in a simpler way. Xitong’s paintings are paradoxical, and the use of symbols allows people who know the language to enter the context quickly. Xitong extracts scenery from reality, extracts figurative images to degrade concepts into abstract symbols, and then materialize them into actual colors and shapes, thus complete the elimination of dualism from subject and object. She thinks painting is always figurative. Just like music is naked and literature is obscure, painting is figurative, even abstract painting has image, painting is always a tangible existence.

Image is my way of expression. Fine Art of painting is a palace that does not require language and thoughts. Art for me is a path that help me to approach the infinite truth.

Xitong

Everyone knows that our lives are finite.

Finite cognition, finite perception, finite physical ability, finite thinking, finite living time.

Our bare eye cannot see beyond the range allowed by human physiology. Light and darkness only occur in the images parsed by brain. The noisy whales and bats in the deep ocean and jungle are silent in our experience, touching can only interpret the feedback of our own skin. We, as human beings, have not a single moment of daily life which makes us jump out of this boundary and touch the world beyond the subjective reality brought by our senses.

There is no doubt that we are small, finite, and fleeting creature.

In the modern age, we live in a cage of human civilization, social structure and historical process. Many auxiliary inventions that were supposed to benefit the living have become the main force to enslave the people. We have successfully taken a step back from the inherently small and limited human life experience and entered our self-built narrow cave. Under these circumstances, I try to involve the senses other than vision by webbing musical rhythm using color and brush strokes, in order to express the truth from my finite individual experience through this illusion that seems closer to the truth. 

每个人都知道我们的生活是有限的。

有限的认知,有限的感知,有限的体能,有限的思维,有限的生命时间。肉眼不能看到人类生理允许的范围之外,光明和黑暗仅仅发生在大脑解析的图像里,深海中、丛林里吵闹的鲸鱼和蝙蝠在我们的体验里鸦雀无声,触感仅仅只能解读自己的皮肤带来的外界反馈,没有一个瞬间,作为人类的我们在日常生活中可以跳出这层薄膜,触碰到感官带来的主观现实之外的世界。

毫无疑问,我们是渺小的、局限的、转瞬即逝的。

现代的我们生活在人类文明、社会制度以及历史进程的五花大绑里。许多本应是为社会造福的辅助发明成为了奴役人民的主要力量,我们成功地从本就渺小局限的人类生命体验里又往后退了一步,一步步走近我们自我构建的狭小山洞。在这样的处境中,我选择以另一个角度上,更接近于现实世界的假象来诠释我个人体验中有限的真实

目前主要进行纸本综合材料创作。眼下非常重视的是“和声”,更准确地说是“二重唱”。技法上除了考虑如何让多素材同时发声且交相辉映,我也在尝试把现实复杂的多样性更简单地表现出来。我的绘画是矛盾的,使用符号可以使对语言有了解的人快速进入语境。我从现实中提取景色,把具象抽取出概念降解成抽象符号,再将之具象化为实际的色彩和形状,从而完成主客体的消融。我认为绘画始终是具象的。就像音乐的表达手法是赤裸,文学是隐晦,绘画是具象,哪怕抽象绘画也是具有“象”的,绘画始终是有物象的存在。

物象只是我表达的途径,艺术是不需要语言和思维的殿堂。我试图,用艺术来接近无限的真实。
